Avoid assigning on-line gifts to the wrong account.
At present eTapestry compares Account Name, e-mail, and address when matching an on-line gift to an account. These data items are compared and if at least 2 of them match, the gift is assigned to that account.
We had an experience where a husband and wife had separate accounts but used the same e-mail and postal addresses. The wife made a gift, but used "# 201" instead of "Unit 201" in her address. The gift was assigned to the husband, even though the Account Name did not match!
My suggestion is that the three items be given different weights, e.g. Account Name (3), email (2), and address (1). This is important for two reasons. Addresses can often be written variably, e.g. "#" instead of "Unit" or "Apt", ZIP instead of ZIP+4, etc.
If the weighted comparison were applied in our case, the gift would have been properly assigned to the wife's account.
