Prevent entry or changes to transactions prior to a date (e.g. last FY year end)

Most accounting systems prevent alteration of transactions in previous financial years. My suggestion for eTapestry is that in My Organisation - Preferences there is a tick box and date field which says Prevent transaction changes before this date.
