intuitive database

It would be so much more user friendly if when searching for accounts in etapestry, typing in, even the first 5 letters of an account name would bring up a list of accounts. You pretty much have to type the entire name and even then sometimes it will come up 'does not exist' because maybe one letter is off. I find the database is not really intuitive in that way.

Another example, if a name is entered by a donor in a justgiving donation for example, and the donor is already an existing account, if the name is not entered on justgiving exactly the same way it exists in etapestry, etapestry creates a new constituent, instead of creating a query to send to the etapestry page admin to confirm the justgiving person is the same as the existing etapestry account. We then have to fix all the duplicates.

How can you make etapestry more intuitive?

    Good Afternoon.

I very much agree with the points above. Sometimes it feels like we have to be detectives to find accounts that we know exist in the database, which causes duplicate accounts and disjointed journals/gift history. Another issue is eTap looking for the matches in the account only before moving to searching other fields. If a name is set up as a salutation in a secondary persona, the search will show me results for partial matches from the account name before showing me exact matches from a secondary persona. I don't want to see all the John's in the system before finding John Smith in a secondary persona. I think the system should always show exact matches before partial matches, regardless of which name field they are from.

    Thanks!
