When a donor gives through a form using Blackbaud Cover, a message pops up reading:
"We need your help!
Transaction fees are an industry-wide standard for processing online payments. Will you give a little extra to ensure we get free processing with Blackbaud?"
For gifts over $50, this defaults to adding 10% to their gift.
My two main issues/suggestions with this are to
Change the wording so that it comes across that Blackbaud is asking for the additional money, not the organization they are donating to
Particularly changing the heading from "We need your help!" to something like "Blackbaud is asking for your help!" and instead of ending the message with "Will you give a little extra to ensure we get free processing with Blackbaud?" to not falsely make it seem as though the organization is asking, it would be much clearer to say something like "Blackbaud would like to ask you to consider giving a little extra to ensure they continue to offer covering these fees."
It feels as though Blackbaud has worded this in a way so that it sounds like the organization is asking, so the donor is compelled in a way that is misleading to give more money to the org. and not Blackbaud
Secondly, the default add on amount being 10% seems really steep when that is nowhere near what the processing fees are, which has lead some donors to believe we have extremely high processing rates through Blackbaud (mainly because the 10% is a default and the message refers to transaction fees being an "industry-wide standard")
