Report on recurring events in Calendar not working

There is a bug in the Reporting system for Calendar items. The report only shows Physical Calendar entries and misses out Instances of Recurring Entries that were made in the past but have an Instance relevant to the report.

-----

Here are two example user stories from my experience:

1. As a user with multiple recurring events, I would like to report on a given week in the calendar and see Instances of Recurring Events as well as Physical Calendar Entries so that I have a complete picture of events that week.

2. As a Volunteer coordinator, who manages Volunteers by means of Recurring Events in the My Org calendar, I would like to be able to run a report that shows Instances of Recurring Events as well as Physical Calendar Entries so that I have a complete picture of which volunteers are expected on any given day or week.

-----

Here is how to reproduce the issue:

1. set up a never-ending recurring event for every Friday, starting on Fri 1/1/2016 (this is the Physical Calendar Entry)

2. Go to your home page (add the calendar if it's not there), click on this week's Friday and see your event
(this is an Instance of the Recurring Event).

3. Run a report to show 'next week's events' and notice that the relevant instance of the event is not showing on the report :(

Here is a knowledge base article that shows how to produce such a report - https://kb.blackbaud.com/articles/Article/69090

-----

I raised this with Blackbaud support (Blackbaud Case 12970770) who confirmed that it has been raised as a bug and asked me to reproduce the issue here.

-----

I have been offered a work-around of entering all recurring entries as Physical Entries however 350 volunteers with shifts from once a month to twice a week is a lot of calendar entries to input every week/ month/ year etc...

------

Are you able to confirm that this is raised as a bug and provide a score for its priority?

This would enable me to work out whether to wait or find an alternative solution
