We are witnessing the same problem in customizing the home page tiles according to our organization's needs. For instance, I found it hard to enable Pledges and Receipts data to be displayed on the Select Tiles and Layout.
You need to enable the queries and reports reflected on the home page to be customized. Each organization and development team is different with different teams and needs to be able to select the campaigns and timeframes that mean the most to them to track at a glance. This should not be an enormous task and for the money we spend on eTapestry should be a modification that is doable.
