The current gift type list in eTap is not comprehensive. For example we'd like to add Direct Deposit. Please consider allowing users to add gift types to this list on a future update. Thanks.
I am looking for a way to enter offline gifts that come through Square at our benefit. It would be great to be able to add a Square option to Venmo and Paypal in Gift Type: Payment Services.
eTap. Please allow us to add alternative vendors to the drop down box under Payment Types. The option of adding another field in Defined Fields is cumbersome and time-consuming. Please allow us to add appropriate fields to Gift types - this isn't a one-size-fits-all subject and you're in danger of it being this-size-fits-nobody!!
We have five eTap systems in different countries and only use this field in the USA. For every other country we default the field to CASH and use a mandatory UDF for the gift type. It is a pain but works. Why, eTap cannot allow additional values for Gift Type is beyond me.
At least if there were an "Other" option it would signal to the user to look under the UDF for additional gift types. With so many employer matching options (Benevity is common) plus Facebook fundraisers, Amazon Smile, and similar programs gaining popularity, it is ESSENTIAL that this additional gift types be easy to track. The current way is extremely cumbersome and not at all intuitive for use. As others have mentioned, we are being required to incorrectly label donations and remember to go back and correct each one manually when we try to pull reports (or pull multiple reports). Extraordinarily inefficient.
I don't understand why you can't add a gift type of "Other" at least, as Raiser's Edge has. Your solution now is to use a "Cash" gift type and a UDF for the alternate pay method. That's a really bad practice in my opinion, since the "Cash" type should really be for actual CASH. Having something like "Other" at least makes it clear to the user that they need to look at the UDF for more information. Using "Cash" can lead the user to believe that it was an actual cash transaction. I truly hope you reconsider this; the way people make payments is changing and we all need to keep up with it.
Please reconsider this. PayPal is a growing payment source and we also use square. The org should be able to define what our most common/useful gift types are for reporting, rather than having to set up UDFs elsewhere. It seems unnecessarily limiting and time-consuming to have Gift Types we don't use and not be able to add Gift Types we use regularly.
Yes, same here. We have to run different reports/ queries because we have to incorrectly label Paypal and Bill any transactions. Having additional UDF's which can easily be added to the gift types creates a lot of extra data entry work.
Need to add ability to create new Gift Types. We are getting more and more payments via Square and PayPal and we need to be able to track these. The workaround of using Defined Fields is unreliable since the user has to remember to go there.

We'd like to see a Gift Type of "Mutual Funds" in addition to Stocks or Bonds.

Another vote/request for having the ability to add Gift Types, or at least an 'Other' option - please!!!

Eg compare charities using Gift Type = Bonds to those who would like to use Gift Type = PayPal.

I don't understand why you can't "unlock" this feature to allow organizations to customize the gift types.

It would great for our organization if "trade" was a "gift type" option. Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestion, but we have no current or future plans on changing this. Additional gift types could be tracked via User Defined Fields.
