Right now, the only options are Mr., Miss, Mrs., Ms. and Custom Title. At the very least, Dr. should be added. It would be great to allow the eTap customer to customize the options in that field based on what they use in their database. In my case, I would eliminate Miss and add Dr., leaving the Custom Title option.
This should be editable by eTap customer. Not all customers want a gender non-binary option, and many would want additional options (Rev., Mr. and Mrs., etc.). This should be editable at the discretion of the organization, not based on Blackbaud's preferences.
This is a very big issue for our non profit. we do not want to force individuals into a gender-binary box with the "Title" . You need to allow us to create our own drop-down or at least add a "prefer not to say"
The fact that we are forcing folks into a gender binary with their titles is behind the times and risks mis-gendering folks for whom this is a painful experience. Some nonprofits exist to serve these groups, and this rigid dropdown menu is going to turn them away from eTapestry.
This is still an ongoing issue. Not only does it save time in data entry, but I have received feedback from donors that when they are making a contribution through one of our DIY Forms doctors are put off by having to enter their title as a custom field. We are a small health non-profit and doctors are a huge portion of our donor base. Even if the standard options are not changed, having the ability to customize what is available on our own database would be a huge help.
I see that others have been requesting the ability to add or delete a title for quite some time. I think if the goal is to keep the drop box manageable, you could delete Miss and Mrs. as many people no longer use those titles. Any single women can be addressed as Ms. And for the sake of saving keystrokes, you could add "Mr. & Mrs." , most married couples still use that. Or, let each administrator choose the titles that appear in their drop box, such as we do for Approaches. Is there any reason we couldn't do that?
Thanks for the responses.
As you enter an account, you can add whatever title you need, but I understand that there is no way to add that title to the drop down. We have tried to make that drop down pretty lean so that orgs did not end up with a huge drop down of options that made data entry more difficult. If there is a title you use all the time, you could put that in the system and set it as an account entry default and then change it as necessary.
As far as the comment about having ALL CAPS for a name, address or salutation field you can accomplish this now. If you do mailing labels in eTap, under Mass Communications, when you choose the account name, choose the options Tab. Under Format you can choose ALL CAPS. The same applies if you are creating an export. Once you choose the Account Name, one of the options for that field is Format which allows you to choose ALL CAPS. If you have any questions on this, you can always contact our support folks to help you out.
Thanks!
I cannot believe Dr doesn't exist in Etapestry and this is obviously been an issue for a long time.
Very disappointed there has been no movement on this - Rabbi, Fr., Mr and Mrs should all be options as well.
Add an option for Mr. and Mrs.
Our organization would also like the option to have all caps populate into the Envelope Salutation so that it is uniform when using the USPS standard form of addresses. We would like to be able to address letters in standard form, but envelopes are different.
Absolutely agree. We should be able to customize the drop-down according to the standards and practices of each organization and to add special case "custom titles" that deviate from the constraints of our organizational standards or frequently used selections.
We need more gender neutral titles Mx for example, this is an option on our website but i need to be add it to an account
We need Dr. to be part of this
I would totally agree with this. Dr. is very important. We are a medical non-profit and a good number of our people are Dr. It slows down Data Entry when you have a huge list and you have to stop and click Custom Title each and every time. The other issue is Mrs. We have a very progressive executive director and she believes Mrs. is old fashioned and should not be used. So we would like to disable Mrs. mostly because it so often gets in by accident and then I have to go through and change them all to Ms.
Please consider allowing this to be a customizable field. There are too many permutations for a standard field to be effective for all organisations.
