This is for anyone that wants to send an email to a constituent and record that email in the Journal. It's so complicated right now and there is a risk of that email being sent without the text being documented. In Sage Act, Sales Force and other CRM's when you sent an email directly from that software and hit sent, it automatically goes in to the Journal. Plus you can click a "followup" button. The Algorhythm in eTapestry is too complicated for a major gift staff to document a conversation with next steps as opposed to RE and other CRM's listed above. Staff need to make it simpler for Major Giving staff to document conversations with next steps and followup action plans.
When I send an email from within eTapestry here's what happens (and is way too complicated) The Text version only auto-generates when building the template under the Communication section of the database.
If you are going to send a one-off email and you edit the HTML, you actually have to physically click the Text button under the body of the email. Then click the Copy HTML Content button that appears there.
If you don't do this and they are using the Tracking option, then the journal contact isn’t going to show all the edits they made to the HTML. The contact entry pulls from the text version.
So, as I thought was the case, the text version of the email will indeed update when creating the template under Communications, but when doing a one off, if you make any change to the actual body of the email, you will need to manually click on Text in that screena nd click to update it so that w hen it is sent and the option is used to create a contact entry in the journal, it will display the text information.
