Blackbaud has recently changed the requirements for creating Do-It-Yourself forms. This has forced us to re-create all of our DIY forms. That was simply a nuisance.
With the old system, we could use a dummy credit card number (9999888877776666) to test the form to make sure that the data on the form was mapping correctly to eTap. This is important to be able to query eTap for reports. It is also important to fully process a test transaction to make sure that the data records properly on the confirmation/receipt email which is automatically generated.
Now there is no dummy credit card number for the new system and we are required to use a real credit card and then refund the transaction. This is unacceptable. We are holding events almost monthly for which each transaction averages about $100. Each of these events has one or more DIY ticket purchase forms. Adding so many transactions to our credit card statement would create an unnecessary accounting burden and probably raise red flags for our auditor.
It seems that Blackbaud would be profiting from our need to test our forms before we put them out to the public by collecting transaction fees on every test transaction.
It is unreasonable to expect us to create a perfect form that does not need to be tested. I’m sure that Blackbaud doesn’t launch anything that hasn’t been thoroughly tested first. We have several forms which need to be tested and launched now. I’m sure there is a reasonable solution on your end.
wonder why this was marked completed, when the problem has not been solved? I just got off chat with tech support and was told that I will have to use my own credit card for each test and that blackbaud keeps the transaction fee for each test.
I agree completely. This is absurd.
I found both these links prior to writing the comment below. Neither of those test numbers listed would allow for the test transaction to go through.
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I have good news. Take a look at these two articles and they will help you accomplish what you are needing to do. Please let us know if there are any other questions!

I was just about to get on here and complain about the same thing! This is a quality control issue. Going through the process of what the donor experiences is vital to quality control. And seeing how the communications are received. Sometimes it takes me a while to find the right User Defined Fields to pull in and display in a proper way. I do this through test transactions. This was a thoughtless update with not taking into consideration the people that actually use this system.
